Inside every tooth is a small space with blood vessels and nerve endings. When decay reaches it, the nerve becomes inflamed. Root canal treatment removes the infection and saves the tooth.

When it is needed
Typical signs are tooth pain or swelling of the gum next to the tooth. Chronic inflammation can develop without pain and still needs treatment. Pain that worsens at night means inflammation is spreading through more canals, and waiting risks infection reaching the jawbone.
The procedure
- Digital X-ray to plan the treatment and identify every canal.
- Local anaesthesia and isolation of the tooth with a rubber dam.
- Root length measured with the RAYPEX 5 electronic apex locator.
- Nerve removal, cleaning and sterilisation of the canals.
- Filling with warm gutta-percha and a control X-ray.
Afterwards
A treated tooth is weaker and usually needs a crown or a filling with a post. We work with illuminated magnification loupes, which matters most for curved or extra canals.
