Healthy teeth start early. Baby teeth do need treatment: bacteria in a decayed milk tooth can damage the permanent tooth underneath and spread infection further.

The first visit
We examine the teeth, check the bite and gums, remove plaque and treat anything that needs it. Parents get advice on brushes, toothpaste and daily care, and we agree on a schedule of visits. The first visit is best when all baby teeth have come through, around age two, followed by check-ups every six months. At six or seven an orthodontic consultation helps confirm the bite is developing well.
Prevention first
- Teaching hygiene habits that stick.
- Regular preventive check-ups.
- Fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel.
- Fissure sealing of baby and permanent teeth: a painless way to close the grooves where decay starts. Permanent molars come through without a baby tooth falling out, so parents often miss them.
Treatment without fear
Early decay is treated quickly and painlessly with fluoridation. Larger cavities are cleaned and filled under gentle anaesthesia. Our dentists find the right approach for every child, and parents stay in the room.
